The crowds continue to gather at the apparition site in Assiut

Eyewitnesses describe the luminous apparitions at St. Mark Church in Assiut (Watani issue 2028 P.1). The cold autumn nights here in Upper Egypt did not prevent the crowds from all over Egypt and the world from gathering around the apparition site at St. Mark's Church, west of Assiut. The journey from other governorates in Egypt to Assiut can take up to twelve hours. On Thursday and Saturday evenings, buses continue to arrive at the apparition site till around 6 PM, when night-vigils start occupying all possible positions around the Church and on the rooftops of surrounding buildings to witness the apparitions. Watani issue number 2028 describes the bright luminous apparition lights that have been witnessed during the night of Saturday 28 October and till 7 AM (on Sunday). Many visitors also attend the morning mass at St. Mark Church and visit nearby monasteries (incl. El-Moharaq Virgin Mary Monastery) and shrines of saints. Watani issue 2028 (P.5) also reports many miracles of healing (see Arabic article below).

Also from Watani (mainly 29 October and 5 November 2000 issues):

Light shines on the houses surrounding St. Mark's Church. People gather nightly chanting Marian hymns and praising God. The heavenly light is getting brighter and its flashes are reflected on the faces of visitors as the luminous spiritual doves fly over their heads. The Watani 29/10/00 article is mainly about families in Assiut opening their houses and doing their best to host the large numbers of visitors who come to see the apparitions (esp. on Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday nights). These pious families provide all the facilities they have free of charge (though many of them are poor) for the comfort of visitors (esp. the old and the sick), opening their houses for them and allowing them to stay on their rooftops.
