Loving Unlovely People

I have thorns but I am beautiful
There are some people whom it is very easy to love. They are congenial to our tastes. They have amiable qualities or charming manners, or they have befriended us, or they are our social companions. But there are others, good enough, yet not congenial, not amiable, not to our taste. They have unlovely and disagreeable traits. Faults mar the beauty of their character. Yet if we are Christians we should not fail to show brotherly love toward any. We must seek that charity that hides the multitude of sins and faults.

1 Peter 4:8: And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. (KJV)
Proverbs 10:12: Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins. (KJV)
Luke 6:31-35: And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. (KJV)
Galatians 6:1: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. (KJV)
Ephesians 4:32: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. (KJV)
Colossians 3:13: Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: (KJV)
Proverbs 14:21: He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. (KJV)
Proverbs 17:9: He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. (KJV)
